The oldest part of the cemetery is the northwest corner just beyond the area shown here. Though that section appears empty, an archeological survey has confirmed that it is filled with graves, many probably from the Indian wars.

Records indicate that many were killed around 1711 as result of an Indian massacre. The graves are now unmarked because the wooden markers have long-ago disappeared with age.
