Vacation homes are commonly owner operated or managed by rental management companies. Vacation rental management companies leverage scale, technology and practical experience to provide easy operational administration on behalf of the owner..
We have put together a short guide to help you get the most out of your rental home experience.
How to find and reserve the best vacation rental:
Do you believe "***** GREAT property in quiet island neighborhood! There is still time to book!!" is the best vacation property for your upcoming visit? Browse through this checklist to confirm it fits your preferences.
Search Early and Frequently
Beaufort, NC rental homes are reserved many months (and up to a year) in advance. To find the best selection, begin your planning and search 6-12 months before a trip. Many families choose to start their search over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve gatherings.
Pick a Village and Date
Consensus can be tough among relatives, but once this complicated part is complete everything will start to fall in place.
Just How Many Bedrooms?
How many family members are joining your vacation? Be aware that most rentals advertise maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the living room. You'll need to determine what is acceptable for the family. Generally rental home listings will describe each one of the unit's specific bedrooms and mattress sizes.
Exactly What Are You Prepared to Shell out?
Does your preferred vacation property fit your budget during that preferred Summer week? If multiple individuals or family members are sharing the cost, ensure each group understands their obligations and has agreed to a maximum they are prepared to chip in. Usually, just one member of the group will be responsible for making the complete reservation and recovering each person's contribution.
Compose a list of "Wishes" and "Necessities"
What amenities is the family looking for? Is a screened-in deck a necessity? Will the property need to be beachfront, downtown, or near restaurants? Does the rental have bikes and beach toys available as part of your stay? Make a list of "needs and preferences" from your group to help narrow your search to the perfect rental.
Accessibility and Special Issues to consider
Do some members of your party have special needs? Make sure to remember and ask about wheelchair entry, pool lifts and special equipment requirements..
Take the Dog
Do not forget to include your companion! Pets are welcome at many vacation rentals, but policies differ. Read your contract carefully! Extra charges may apply when animals are included. Ask questions *well before* you reserve!
Searching the Internet
After the area, travel dates and people are decided, search multiple resources for the greatest rental home selection. In addition to Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we recommend searching Google for "Beaufort, NC local rental homes" for local rental home management companies. Local companies usually have a unique assortment of rental homes daily and weekly.
Negotiate the Price
When you have identified your dream rental, double check to make sure your vacation dates are available.
Some rental owners will negotiate prices, and some will not. If they are hesitant to budge on a highly-desirable stay, try getting an extra night. Off-peak weeks will probably be negotiable more often than peak-season..
Study the Contract
You really need to know which services are included:
- Utility bills
- WIFI Access
- Long Distance Calls
- Hot Tub Heating
- Pay Per View Movies
- Cleaning Fees
- Trash Pickup (and which day?)

In addition to the normal rate, guests have to pay state taxes when renting "***** GREAT property in quiet island neighborhood! Cancellation policies are different for each rental. Vacation rental management companies and home owners often offer their clients the option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance safeguards the renter against emergencies and weather events, It offers peace of mind should disaster strike.
Complete the Booking
When you feel you've found "the one", begin the reservation process. You'll probably be required to submit a security deposit at time of reservation.

During your Stay
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas of the property. We also recommend immediately calling the rental manager with a report of any problems, together with your request for any necessary fixes. If there is a difference of opinion about responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts could be valuable.
- Ask questions. If there is any ambiguity about parking, policies of the property, property access, swimming pool operations, etc... we advise you ask the rental home manager promptly. A phone call can save hours of hassle.
- Please be respectful of the local community. More often than not, surrounding households are lived in by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and vehicle parking restrictions can make a visit significantly more pleasurable.
- Ask a local. Local residences can often point you in the right direction.
- Make certain to protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the vacation home locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
Check Out Time
- Tidy up a bit. Despite the fact that you're spending money on a cleaning fee, The rental home is required to be in good condition. Sinks stuffed with pots and pans, surplus beach sand on the floor and sticky messes ought to be taken care of prior to leaving.
- Be sure to walk through the rental home one final time and check for damage. We advise walking through with the rental manager whenever feasible (this may not be possible).. If the property manager is not available, make certain to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- How would you rate your experience? Many rental management companies and vacation rental websites permit customers to offer feedback. If your property and/or property manager was first-rate, they will appreciate your positive reviews. If something went wrong, we recommend being kind but honest with regards to your experience. The best owners and managers will work very hard to solve the problem.
