Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • To get the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. The Gray Whale, Unit E29
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.

  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
