Atlantic Beach just made #16 in the list of Top 100 Beaches in the United States, beating out even beaches in Hawaii! Truly a hidden gem, as this part of the island doesn't have public access, beyond a few cars, so it's just folks staying right there.

My favorite spots here are the broad with outdoor areas, including dining, giant sectional couches, and fire table to savor as the sun goes down. I adore that I can hear the waves crash from here.

Tricks and tips to get the optimal Beaufort, NC vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Barefoot Beach: Spectacular Family Beach Retreat! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Beaufort, NC destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
