How to get the best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Best deal in Beaufort, pet-friendly, with extra perks! Ideal for Travel Nurses! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
