Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to book a Beaufort, NC rental home & When to go:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Double Queen-Unit 301 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
