Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Private beach access and recently updated! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
