Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Spectacular Sunrises over the Waters of North River has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, NC beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
