Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Booking your Beaufort, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Spacious King Suite Room: 5 min walk to the beach and Pool Access! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
