A Place at the Beach is a gated, oceanfront complex that sits at the doorstep of Fort Macon State Park. There's a plank boardwalk leading onto the sand, as well as four beach chairs, an umbrella, modest coolers, and a beach wagon supplied by the owner for your use.

On the grounds of the property, savor a sizable outdoor pool with a waterslide (and refreshments for sale), an indoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, shuffleboard, miniature golf, outdoor bowling, and a grilling area with picnic tables. There are even special events throughout the year, from live music to Easter egg hunts.

Whether you're in town for the Beach Music Festival or Carolina Kite Fest, you'll appreciate coming home to this air-conditioned condo each day. Located in Atlantic Beach, this condo is in the city center and on the beach. Fort Macon State Park and Beaufort Historic Site are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Triple S Marina and Anchorage Marina. North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and North Carolina Maritime Museum are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

• In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early.
