The July 4th on July 3rd Party is a family-friendly community celebration held annually at the Beaufort Historic Site, bringing together history, entertainment, and patriotic fun in advance of Independence Day. Set against the backdrop of one of North Carolina’s most historic coastal communities, the event offers visitors a unique opportunity to celebrate America’s heritage while enjoying an evening of activities designed for all ages. In 2026, the event is part of the Beaufort Historical Association’s America 250 commemorations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Cannon Day at Fort Macon State Park is a popular living-history program that gives visitors the opportunity to experience military history firsthand through demonstrations of the fort’s historic artillery. Held several times each year at Fort Macon in Atlantic Beach, the event highlights the role that cannons played in coastal defense and showcases the equipment and techniques used by soldiers stationed at the fort during the 19th century.

The Beaufort Pirate Invasion is one of coastal North Carolina’s most popular history-themed festivals, transforming the waterfront town of Beaufort into a lively seaport filled with pirates, soldiers, merchants, and colonial-era characters. Held annually in downtown Beaufort, the event celebrates the town’s rich maritime heritage and commemorates the historic Spanish attack on Beaufort in 1747, as well as the region’s connections to the legendary pirate Blackbeard and other seafaring figures.
