Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Near airport, restaurants, and river, Smart Tvs in all rooms has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
