Our top Vacation rental home tips:

How to get the best value:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the right Beaufort, NC rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Bluewater's Sandcastle, Oceanview House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
