Getting the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the best rental home:

  • To start, have your group choose the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Front Cottage with Mother-in-law Suite has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
