You let them know the time you want to return, and the ferry will be at the dock to pick you up! You can choose to go to the Lighthouse side of the park or Shackleford Banks island.
Take food, umbrellas, water and anything else you would like to have with you on the beach. Rest room facilities are available at the lighthouse but the visitors center only sells water and a limited amount of snacks.

Shackleford Banks is home to 130 wild ponies and they are handsome to observe from a distance. Remember - they are wild so follow the rules that are posted on the island.

Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center is located on Harkers Island, roughly 4 miles from our home. The museum contains an elegant collection of Down East history, duck hunting, and culture.

A little further away is Cedar Island Horse Stables. There you can rent horses to ride along the beach. It's a humongous hit with the visitors. The drive is about 30-40 mins. from our home but well worth the trip.

Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the best Beaufort, NC vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Coastal SeaClusion Vacation Rental is located in Down East, Carteret County, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
