Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the right Beaufort, NC vacation home:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spectacular Intracoastal Waterfront Home with Private Beach, Dock and Sunsets has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
