Tricks and tips to get the optimal Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea's the Day-Oceanfront Home, Private Pool, July 4th & Memorial Wknd OPEN!! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
