Tips and Tricks to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Beaufort, NC rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best rental home in the Beaufort, NC area:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Kiwi Kottage: 4 BR, 3.5 BA House in Atlantic Beach, Sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
