Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Central Emerald Isle, Private Beach Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, NC beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
