How to get the best Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pine Knoll Townes 65, Almost Oceanfront Townhouse in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
