Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To get the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Secluded waterfront home that is 5 min away from downtown Beaufort has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
