Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. “Shore Thing” at our spacious Beachfront Oasis - WEST has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
