SUMMARY
Formerly an animal and vegetable farm, this handsome home sits on 10 acres and is only 2 miles from from hwy 55 and hwy 70 and not far from hwy 17. It has a cavernous yard with back porch and wheelchair ramp. Surrounded by a mature forest, the home is still a short drive from New Bern's burgeoning downtown, cozy eateries, trendy pier, and close by attractions such as local fishing, boating, bird watching, Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Fort Jackson, Camp Lejeune, and Cherry Point.

THE SPACE
The home is new, but the land was farmed by my granddad and dad (and their siblings) since the early 1900’s. There were cows, horses, goats, hogs, chickens, dogs, and of course vegetables and flowers. Farming is what helped them survive the Great Depression, raise their families, and continue up to 2013 when my father sold the last goats. It really is a special place where time seems to stop and anxiety falls away. I hope you appreciate your stay.

This is a newer home and completely refreshed from the kitchen to the closets. There are tons of windows, which make the home bright and airy and provide vistas of the broad yard and field.

With 4 queen beds, everybody in your group will get the space and privacy they want for the price you want. The Master Suite has a queen bed, giant walk-in closet, and private full bathroom with garden tub and shower. The second bedroom has 2 queen beds and a walk-in closet. The third bedroom has 1 queen bed and a walk-in closet.

The home includes an eat in kitchen with breakfast bar and dining room, a huge living room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and laundry room.

This home is great for individuals, families, or groups. Kids are welcome, but please note the home is not kid-proofed and does not provide any infant/toddler supplies or furnishings.

GUEST ACCESS
Guests can access everything, including a entirely equipped kitchen and the washer and dryer. Please, clean what you use (dishes, stovetop, spills, etc.) and return everything to its place (games, remotes, keys, etc.)

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
To stay in this home, at least one guest should be able to open the front gate by hand. It is about 20 lbs.

The interior doors are wide enough for wheelchairs and there is a ramp on the back porch.

This is a non-smoking home.

Family Animals and farm animals formerly lived on this property.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
I appreciate this little area because it is a safe, peaceful, close-knit community. All of the neighbors know each other and are very friendly, but there is so much land between this home and the next, that there is tons of privacy. The home is tucked away, surrounded by mature trees and forest, but still less than 2 miles from highway 55 and highway 70 and not far from highway 17. You'll never have your roads blocked off for marathons and festivals, but you'll still be able to savor all the downtown activity.

You'll be about 10 mins. from anything in New Bern. With fast and simple highway access, downtown is nearly a straight shot from any close by road.

Tips to get the very best rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sleeps 6 in 4 Queen Beds, former farmland, near New Bern, home of Tryon Palace. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
