Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback.
