Strategies to get the optimal Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To get the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Idyllic waterside home with a hot tub, open-concept layout, W\/D, & central AC has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
