Rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family decide on dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beau Point: Dog-Friendly Waterfront w\/dock \"Where live oaks meet the sea…” has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
