Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Big Kahuna, Oceanview House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
