Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Down East cottage with views of Ward Creek has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
