Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Beaufort, NC attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Dune Magic, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
