The Front Porch on Ann Street

Our calendar is refreshed in real-time & our nightly prices are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

With more than a century of seafaring history woven into its walls, The Front Porch on Ann Street is full of the timeless ambiance of striking downtown Beaufort. It's a place for handsome days of exploring and balmy afternoons spent rocking on the front porch, watching the neighborhood pass you by.

One of the outstanding features of this home is its storied history, dating back to Captain Jack Parkins and his wife, Emily, who moved the home - by barge - from Adam's Creek to its present location after marrying in 1902. In the century since the home rolled on logs across Front Street, it has remained in the Parkins-Lewis family as Beaufort has grown up around it. The heart of town is half a mile west, home to an array of eateries and stores, the Island Express Ferry Service, and the North Carolina Maritime Museum.

Sunlight seems to find every corner of the home, thanks to generous windows that line both floors. Linger on the porch swing or the rocking chairs out front, fire up the gas grille, or step inside to either the living room or family room to bask in the comfort of central air conditioning.

Prepare family meals in the well-equipped kitchen, sit down for dinner in the formal dining room, and bring coffee and dessert to the yard out back to savor in the shade of mature trees. In the evenings, take a sunset bicycle ride, watch movies on the TV, log onto the WiFi to catch up on e-mail at one of numerous desk workspaces, and get a sound nighttime's sleep in the four inviting bedrooms upstairs.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
