The Front Porch on Ann Street

Our calendar is refreshed in real-time & our nightly prices are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

With more than a century of seafaring history woven into its walls, The Front Porch on Ann Street is full of the timeless ambiance of striking downtown Beaufort. It's a place for elegant days of exploring and balmy afternoons spent rocking on the front porch, watching the neighborhood pass you by.

One of the amazing features of this home is its storied history, dating back to Captain Jack Parkins and his wife, Emily, who moved the home - by barge - from Adam's Creek to its present location after marrying in 1902. In the century since the home rolled on logs across Front Street, it has remained in the Parkins-Lewis family as Beaufort has grown up around it. The heart of town is half a mile west, home to an array of eateries and stores, the Island Express Ferry Service, and the North Carolina Maritime Museum.

Sunlight seems to find every corner of the home, thanks to generous windows that line both floors. Linger on the porch swing or the rocking chairs out front, fire up the gas grille, or step inside to either the living room or family room to bask in the comfort of central air conditioning.

Prepare family meals in the well-equipped kitchen, sit down for dinner in the formal dining room, and bring coffee and dessert to the yard out back to appreciate in the shade of mature trees. In the evenings, take a sunset bicycle ride, watch movies on the TV, log onto the WiFi to catch up on e-mail at one of multiple desk workspaces, and get a sound nighttime's sleep in the four inviting bedrooms upstairs.

Tricks and tips for getting the best Beaufort vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • First, have your group select a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Historic downtown home with porch, backyard & prime location - dog-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
