Tricks and tips to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Nina Street House, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
