Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sound of the Sea 303W - 1BR Ocean Front - Just Renovated!! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, NC beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
