How to get the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:

  • To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sound Of The Sea East 131, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
