Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, NC area. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 3BR Condo
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
