Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Beaufort, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Summervilla, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC destination you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
