Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Lighthouse, Oceanfront house, in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
