Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Beaufort, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by having your group select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Toes in the Sand ???? Drink in Hand! 2 Decks, Views throughout, Great location! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
