Tips to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in New Bern. Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront 3 bedroom dog-friendly cottage with a million-dollar view has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
