Emerald Isle vacation rental tips:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To get the best rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the right Beaufort, NC vacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Gathering Place - 1 Block from Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
