How to book the best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, NC area. To book the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Beaufort, NC attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Adorable Cottage on the Canal with Boat Lift has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, NC destination you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
