Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful cottage w\/ocean views - steps away from the beach! Dog Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
