Finding the best rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, NC area. Reserve your Beaufort, NC rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • To start, have your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Heart of EI - Ocean Front and SO close to town! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
