How to find the best Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • First, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, NC beach you crave, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
