Getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing yourrental home:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. NEW! Ocean Front 2BR AMAZING VIEWS at Ocean Reef on Emerald Isle, NC - 6A2 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
