How to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Southwinds G16 (Ocean View) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
