Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, NC area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your prefectrental:

  • To start, have your group commit to dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Seaside Cottage, Soundfront House in Beaufort, NC has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
