Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Beaufort, NC restaurants and activities.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Cozy Bear Bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
