Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Reserve your Beaufort, NC rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the best vacation home in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. A private, wooded home in Emerald Isle, NC, 5th row from the beach (5 min walk) has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, NC destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
