Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. South ACK-Lil bit of Nantucket in Beaufort NC! Book now for summer! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
