Rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Historic Downtown New Bern Condominium-1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, NC beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
